Live Like No One Else

Have you ever heard the phrase “Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else?”

It comes from personal finance guru Dave Ramsey. I’m a huge Dave Ramsey fan. 

One thing that Dave always says that sticks with me is to “Live like no one else, so later you can live like no one else.”

It seems like a confusing statement, but if you hang on to it, it can really help you make it through some tough times.

What Dave really means is live in a way that most people are unwilling to live. Do things that most people are unwilling to do. This could be applied to any area of your life really, not just finances. 

When you do things now that most people are unwilling to do to get yourself into a better position, later you’ll be in a position that everyone would envy. 

Later, you’ll be in a position where you no longer feel like you don’t have any money. You won’t feel like you can’t get a new car, or go on a vacation, or buy what you need to. 

Because you did the hard work of getting yourself into a better position, now life feels abundant. 

This is the position we want to get ourselves in, but man, it’s hard.

The question becomes, are you willing to live like no one else for the moment?

Money Demands Patience

Your money will demand your patience. It’s a long game.

Whatever your dream for your life, you can achieve it, but it will take time and patience to achieve it.

Put in the work and put the systems in place so that over time, you win.

Money Will Demand Sacrifice

I’m a firm believer that you’ll always be able to spend whatever you can make.

While I also believe that earning more is a worthwhile endeavor, being in a the habit of sacrificing the unimportant is crucial. 

It’s vital that if something is not important to you or you can’t afford it, you need to cut it.

We just don’t have enough money to be able to afford anything we’d ever want, and that’s ok. But we can earn enough to afford enough. You get to decide how much you earn and how much is enough. It’s not the same for me as it is for you. 

Later, you can live like no one else

There comes a point where if you’ve done your work the right way, you won’t have to work so hard.

Your spending will free up, it’ll become easier to save more money to get there faster. Your margin will increase.

What could you do if you didn’t have any payments?

That’s what we’re shooting for. We want to reach a point where we can live like no one else gets to.

Your Hard Work Will Pay Off

Money’s hard. 

Staying in the balancing act sometimes has us feeling like we want to walk away.

How do we balance working towards our financial dreams while not feeling trapped?

It’s a tough slog, but it’s also worth it.
